Abstract

The current research aims to uncover the obstacles to the research partnership between Imam Abdul Rahman bin Faisal University and society, and to determine the requirements for its activation. The descriptive survey method was used, and the questionnaire tool was applied to (211) teaching members from Imam Abdul Rahman bin Faisal University, and the results showed that they agreed to a large degree on the obstacles, as the physical obstacles came in first place. Then societal obstacles, followed by organizational, and finally academic. The results also showed their agreement to a very high degree with its requirements, as the material requirements came first, then societal requirements, then regulatory, followed by legislative, and finally research requirements. There are also statistically significant differences due to the college type variable in “academic obstacles” in favor of humanities/theoretical colleges, while there are no statistically significant differences in the other dimensions due to the variables gender, academic rank, and Type of college. Among the most important recommendations are giving incentives according to the number of research papers and their effectiveness, holding meetings to introduce the university’s capabilities and the benefits of partnership, and forming a special committee for partnership and facilitating it.
