Assessing the Readiness of the Ministry of Education in Jordan to its Participation in the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA) in 2022 from the Perspective of the Educational Supervisors

Abstract

Preparation for standardized tests that are applied on a large scale, such as the PISA study, is considered to have an impact on the successful implementation of the test and the improvement of the level of students’ performance. Therefore, the Ministry of Education in Jordan has developed a plan to prepare for the PISA 2022 study with the aim of being able to adhere to the study standards and ensure the improvement of students’ performance in Jordan, which is below the level of performance of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries in all study domains. The current study aimed to assess the readiness of the Ministry of Education in Jordan to its participation in the PISA 2022 study from the point of view of educational supervisors. The opinions of 140 male and female supervisors were surveyed using a questionnaire whose validity and reliability were verified, and it consisted of four domains: awareness of the test, building students' capabilities, technological readiness, and support and attribution. The results of the study revealed that the level of readiness of the Ministry of Education was average in all domains, where the lowest level of readiness was in the domain
