Learning Loss Resulting from Education during the Corona Pandemic among General Education Students

This research aims at identifying the reality of learning loss resulting from educational during Corona pandemic among public education students, particularly in the General Directorate of Education in Asir region. This research used mixed-methods design to achieve its objectives, in accordance with the exploratory-consecutive design whereas both qualitative and quantitative instruments were used. The sample of this research was five educational leaders chosen from the General Directorate of Education in Asir region, documents showing the results of the diagnostic test of educational loss in the second semester 1442/1443, and (384) teachers who were randomly chosen from the General Directorate of Education in Asir region. The included instruments in this research were the documents of diagnostic test results, interviews, and closed-ended questionnaire. The validity and reliability of both qualitative and quantitative instruments were checked and ensured. The results of this research revealed that the educational field needs to determine the basic skills of the educational courses which students’ lack of knowledge leads to learning loss, unite the concept of learning loss among those who are meant to address it, enhancing and reinforcing teachers’ awareness and competencies to address learning loss, paying extra attention to psychological and social aspects while addressing
