The role of high-quality environments of kindergarten in the development of children's social and emotional competence

Abstract

The study aimed to reveal the role of high-quality kindergarten environments in children's social and emotional competence, The study relied on the descriptive survey method, and the application of the questionnaire tool to a sample of (356) kindergarten teachers in government and private kindergartens in Riyadh. The results concluded: The respondents agreed that the level of quality in kindergarten environments was high and agreed on the height of the windows and the availability of fire extinguishers in the corridors and inside the classrooms to ensure the protection of children. and the respondents agreed that the level of children's social and emotional competence in the kindergarten environment was high, agreeing that the physical environment has a role in helping children to take pride in their achievements, and participate in cooperative games with peers. There are differences between the responses of the sample about the level of environmental quality in favor of private kindergarten teachers, and There are differences due to qualification in favor of a diploma qualification. The study recommends building guidelines for teachers on quality standards and the importance of their availability and application and urging the competent authorities in the Ministry of Education to ensure High-quality kindergarten
